Welcome Teachers!
The volunteers and staff of the South Carolina State Museum invite you to visit and participate in a wonderful educational experience!

All educational programs are designed to assist teachers in meeting the South Carolina State Department of Education’s curriculum standards.
Hands-on, inquiry-based Gallery Lessons provide a more in-depth experience than guided tours and are offered in all subject areas.

Programs coordinated with state curriculum standards also are available in three other areas at the State Museum. NatureSpace offers interactive natural history lessons for students in K4 through 6th grade. Science Theatre offers exciting science programs for students in K4 through 12th grade.

Tours and Self-guided tours are available of the entire museum, as well as in specific subject areas.

Once you have decided which programs are right for your students, you are ready to make your Reservations. You also will be ready to learn about chaperone requirements and other Things to know before arrival.

Home Schools are encouraged to participate in State Museum programming. You can reserve any school program available at the museum. We do ask that there be at least 10 children in your group.

Upon request, the museum will provide free Teacher Workshops. The museum also has a number of Starlab Programs available for teachers, such as Starlab, the portable planetarium.

New for 2008/2009!  Museum educators will bring Outreach programs to your classroom.

Join us at the State Museum for a fun educational experience that will help you meet the state curriculum standards.
