The Fine Art Ramblers

11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
 
Join us for a unique look into South Carolina art and artists with a special day full of activities for everyone!
 
Guests can enjoy:
  • Guided behind the scenes tours of museum art and history storage areas. (Art storage tours are at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. History storage tours are at 2pm and 4pm) 
     
  • Demonstrations by South Carolina artists: Paul Moore (pottery), Herman Thompson (wire sculpture), Alicia Leeke (painting) and Brian Rego (painting).  
        
  • Hands on art projects in partnership with the University of South Carolina Art Education Department focusing on
    South Carolina Art from the museum's collection.
  • ART SALE! Art lovers will have an opportunity to buy original art by, Guy Lipscomb, a distinguished SC painter. Lipscomb was an influential artist and a prime mover behind the creation of the State Museum. Dozens of his unique paintings will be available for sale at the event.
  • LIVE MUSIC from the The Fine Art Ramblers at 1:30 and 2:45 p.m.:
    • The Fine Art Ramblers are a group of visual artists who also play music. They are a post-modern string band that plays a little bit of old-time, a little bit of blues, a little swing, & some great old tunes with a few post-modern surprises thrown in for good measure.
