Statewide Star Party
April 4 & 5
The South Carolina State Museum is proud to present the inaugural South Carolina Statewide Star Party, which is a two day free stargazing celebration that will take place on April 4 and 5 around the state with several astronomy partners. The State Museum’s Star Party events will take place from 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4 at Congaree National Park at the Cedar Creek Boat Landing and from 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at Hunter-Gather, located at 900 Main St. in Columbia. Both parties are free and open to the public. Each partnering organization will also present a free stargazing and telescope viewing session in their area.
This event depends on weather conditions so if it looks rainy or cloudy the day of the event just double check the museum's Facebook
page to make sure the program is still on.

April 4 - Congaree National Park. Public observing at the Cedar Creek Boat Landing with telescopes provided by the Midlands Astronomy Club. Starts at 7:30 p.m. THE APRIL 4 OBSERVING EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO COULDY CONDITIONS.
April 5 - Planets for the People: Sidewalk Astronomy at the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery & Ale House. Public observing with telescopes provided by the Midlands Astronomy Club, the University of South Carolina and the SC State Museum. Starts at 6:30 p.m.
April 5 - Planetarium shows at USC-Aiken's Ruth Patrick Science Education Center. "Dark Shadows," explores the phases of the Moon and starts at 7 p.m. "Two Small Pieces of Glass," focuses on the 400 year history of the telescope and starts 8 p.m. Public observing will also take place on the lawn with telescopes provided by the Astronomy Club of Augusta.
April 4 - Roper Mountain Science Center, "Starry Nights". Public observing with telescopes provided by Roper Mountain Astronomers. The Daniel Observatory will also be open to the public. Event time is 7:30 - 10 p.m.
April 4 - Francis Marion University Observatory. Public observing from 8 - 10 p.m. Radio astronomy activities with RadioJOVE antenna.
April 5 - Francis Marion University Observatory. Solar observing from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with hands-on activities provided by ScienceSouth. Radio astronomy activities with RadioJOVE antenna.
