Tartan Fest 2010

April 2, 2011
11am - 4pm

“But give me the land of the heather and the kilt, the mountain and the river,
For the blood leaps in my veins when I hear the bagpipe's strains
Scotland, dear old Scotland forever!”

The pipes will be skirling and the clans gathering as the South Carolina State Museum presents Tartan Fest, its annual celebration of Celtic heritage, on Saturday, April 2.  The day will be filled with programs on fencing, falconry and other features of Scottish life and history.  The sounds of popular Scottish music will fill the museum as Celtic rockers Rathkeltair and Palmetto Pipes and Drums perform. Celtic dancing is highlighted again with Highland and Scottish country dancing. New this year to Tartan Fest is the Rince na h’Eireann School of Irish Dance performing Irish step dancing.

Tartan Fest is free with regular Museum admission or membership unless otherwise noted.
