The Civil War in South Carolina

The year 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the American Civil War, possibly the biggest single event in American history since the American Revolution severed the ties between England and its 13 colonies in 1776. A number of states, including South Carolina, will observe the anniversary of the war years.

The State Museum plans a major, four-year retrospective on the war, beginning with six planned exhibits and a series of programs.
