Museum Hours - Admission - Information 


The Museum is located at 301 Gervais Street, beside the historic Gervais St. Bridge and just a few blocks west of the State Capitol in downtown Columbia, South Carolina.  Get directions.

Hours

  • Open: Tuesday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sundays 1- 5 p.m.
  • Open: Mondays - Memorial Day through Labor Day
  • Closed: New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day


 Admission

  • Adults 13 - 61: $5.00
  • Seniors 62 & over: $4.00
  • Children 3-12: $3
  • Infants 2 and under: FREE
  • The military discount is $1

Length of Stay

You can spend an hour or a whole day in the State Museum’s fascinating galleries. Please allow yourself ample time to enjoy touring the four floors of exhibits and visiting the Cotton Mill Exchange.

Handicapped Access

The State Museum is fully accessible to the handicapped. Free wheelchairs available on first-come, first-serve basis.

Photography

Flash photography with electronic or built-in flash is permitted, except in the Lipscomb Art Gallery or in posted exhibitions. No tripods, please.

$1 Sunday

General admission to the State Museum is only $1.00 the first Sunday of each month.

Joint Tickets

Joint Tickets are available for the State Museum and the Confederate Relic Room.  Visit both museums for one admission price.
